Computer Reclamation I run Computer Docs, an organization that recycles used computers, refurbishes them, and then donates them at no cost to people who can't afford a computer. Computer Docs is sponsored by the Jewish Council for the Aging. Donations of computer equipment made to Computer Docs are tax deductible. If you donate a computer to us, we will be happy to send you a receipt that you can use for tax purposes.
We accept Pentium 3 computers 800 mhtz or better. The computer does not have to be in working condition. We accept montiors 17 inches or larger. Monitors must be in working condition.
Everyone on the Computer Docs staff is a volunteer. Therefore we are not in the office on a regular basis. Due to our limited staff we are unable to pick up donated computers. If you wish to donate a computer, click on the "Contact Me" link at the top of this page to arrange for a time when you can deliver your computer to us.
If you wish to apply to receive a refurbished computer at no charge from Computer Docs, call Dana Hirsch at 240-395-0916. She will send you the form that you fill out proving need.
Computer Docs is located in the Bethesda Chevy Chase Services Center building at 4805 Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda, Md. 20814. A map is shown below. Written directions to reach our building are also available.
